:. The Man With The Golden Gun .:

Roger Moore's second outing as James Bond resulted in the most underrated film of the series. The Man With The Golden Gun yielded a memorable villain and a great climactic set.Moore seems more comfortable in the role for this film, and shows an inspired insecure hatred towards his rival. Christopher Lee makes a memorable villain out of Francisco Scaramanga, the man with the golden gun. Scaramanga is a more approachable villain than 007 usually encounters, and displays genuine hospitality towards bond. There is a definite admiration displayed by Scaramanga towards James Bond, in many ways he is trying to impress Bond and even takes advice on the stocking of his wine cellar from him.Scaramanga is also a good employer, his friendly attitude towards Nick Nack creates an understandable loyalty from his servant. The desire to kill his hero in a fair fight further demonstrates a need to prove himself to Bond. Francisco Scaramanga is essentially a nice guy who would probably be a choice friend, except that he is suffering from an unfortunate yet profitable addiction to homicide.

Mary Goodnight is an unremarkable love interest, who's only memorable trait is being the only truly stupid Bond girl. M is somewhat friendly early in the film, but as the missions outlook becomes darker he is irritably and begins uncharacteristically "snapping" at his subordinates. Clifton James makes his return as J.W. Pepper(an earlier and more entertaining version of Jack Wade), the role is given little screen time as usual but is played welland offers perfect contrast to the reserved secret agent 007.

Ken Adam creates Scaramanga's fun house, an amazing set, this comical yet dangerous battleground is the perfect atmosphere for the showdown between Bond and the man with the golden gun. John Barry scores the film well as usual and there are the typically imaginative action sequences such as Bond's drive over the cork screw bridge.
